Yoga is an acquired taste if you will. It isn’t for everyone and it’s very common to feel out of place.
If you’re about to walk into your first yoga class,
there’s more you can do to prepare yourself than just breathe deeply and cross your fingers that everything goes well.
Don’t Be Afraid Of Your Body
Walking into a room full of people in spandex outfits can be intimidating, but don’t worry,
they’re all there for the same reason you are.
They also felt out of place and uncomfortable for their first few classes. Remember, everyone is different.
When you walk in there, you’re going to see different shapes.
You’ll see apple, pear, round, and hourglass shapes.
None of these people are judging each other and they certainly won’t judge you as far as it is well concerned by a number of people.
You Don’t Have To Follow The Leader
Yes, the positions you see some women doing may be way out of your league,
but you should know that it took them a few classes, and even more, to get to that level.
They once started out as a beginner and may not have been able to do what the experts were doing.
Yoga is about the connection you have with your body and the way you breathe.
If you can’t do a position or don’t feel comfortable with it, don’t worry about it.
They aren’t going to tell you that you have to do it. Plus, nobody wants you to get hurt trying to turn yourself into a human pretzel by doing yoga challenge poses that are out of your skill level as this is also the most important ever in the yoga.
Learning To Breathe
Yoga is a very spiritual thing. It requires you to connect with yourself and if you can’t do that, you won’t be able to succeed with yoga.
You need to train yourself to be cool, calm, and collected. One of the key concepts of yoga is breathing.
Yoga is a connection between breathing and movement. Opening your mind and heart to the practice and to yourself will result in a better yoga class for you and everyone around you.
Don’t Be Afraid
The most important thing to remember is not to be afraid. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else there,
don’t be afraid of your body, and don’t get down on yourself if you can’t do something that everyone else is doing.
It takes practice. Nobody cares about the way you look, so don’t be afraid to walk in there in a nice pair of spandex pants that make you feel comfortable.
Yoga takes practice, patience,in addition to the opening your heart to yourself as it is well known.
If for some reason you just don’t feel comfortable in classes with other people watching you,
there’s nothing wrong with doing yoga at home. If that’s where you feel most comfortable, go for it.
Although, taking classes can help you form bonds with other yoga goer’s and create new friendships.
